A Greater Sudbury hotel has offered RTRS a preferred rate and direct billing. Now we need the community’s help to fund the rooms.

Red Thread Safe Stay is a confidential 1 to 7 night hotel bridge for approved women, children and pets escaping intimate-partner violence when no safe room is immediately available.

Safe Stay is preparing to launch and is not yet accepting room requests.

Red Thread Refuge Society is an incorporated Ontario not-for-profit (OCN 1001553882) and is not currently a registered charity. Official donation tax receipts cannot be issued. Donations support approved Safe Stay hotel costs and directly related emergency accommodation expenses. If pilot needs are fully funded, remaining funds may support related RTRS emergency accommodation and safety work.

  • Not at this time. Red Thread Refuge Society is an incorporated Ontario not-for-profit but is not currently a registered charity. We cannot issue official charitable donation tax receipts. Donors will still receive confirmation of their payment.

  • At the current all-in partner rate, one hotel night costs $168.88. A $170 donation can fund approximately one safe night when processing fees are covered. Hotel rates may change, and all donations are pooled in the Safe Stay Fund to support approved emergency accommodations based on need, available funding and hotel availability.
